How Social Media has Worked for Me
Marketing has changed, but why have we not changed the way
we market? We all are aware that nobody likes
to be sold to. Yet when I log on to twitter all I see are tweets that are selling.
I have heard of treating social media like a cocktail party, which make a lot of
sense. You don’t walk into a party telling everyone to buy your product.
I strongly believe in the power of social media, when I first started my home staging business, I landed my first job from twitter. From that moment on I realized my online presence was an important part of marketing for my business.
Social media is about building relationships and trust. I have found it’s like the ice breaker, it gets the conversation going. Once you have started talking you need to keep the conversation going, keep engaging your audience. Just like any relationship, it takes time to build trust. The idea of marketing is still the same build trust and leads will come.I think the trick with social media is to create value and a reason for people to want to know more about your business.
I have found my success with social media comes from being consistent, which is the same when you use the old school way of marketing. We all have heard you need to get in front of your target market 5 to 7 times well it’s the same with social media.
Nothing happens over night, your work will not show results if you don’t remain consistent, continually engaging people. I have found by continually giving valuable information, clients are ready to use my services. They feel they know me and trust me.
How do you use social media in your business? What platform works best for your business?
